Stansted Airport is known as the hub for low cost travel to Europe – so it is no surprise that it is located on the outskirts of London – making it less convenient to get to. However there are a range of transportation options available for this airport.

The most convenient way to get to central London is by Taxi, there is a taxi rank located just outside the terminal entrance. However fares are incredibly expensive and a one way taxi ride to central London will set you back a whopping £100!

If you don’t want to spend that much money, but you still want the convenience and freedom of having your own car – then a rental car hire is definitely from you. Rental hire can work out a lot cheaper then expensive taxis. You can choose exactly what type of car you want. There is also the option of a car sharing scheme which allows you to rent a car for much smaller periods of time.

There are buses (national express) linking Stansted with central London and Victoria coach station. The Stansted express train runs every 45minutes through the day and arrives at London’s Liverpool street, where you can catch a tube to continue to your final destination.

All of these transportation options (even the taxi) can be booked online and in advance. Generally speaking you are likely to get discounted rates when booking through the Internet. The same applies with car rental – check out the search feature on this sit for the best rates around.
