Stansted Airport Weather Forecast

The weather in London is always tempestuous and ever-changing so it is essential that you keep up to date with it. If you are looking to fly out from Stansted it is even more important that you are aware of the weather forecast; with so many flights being cancelled for such trivial conditions as rain (occasionally). Particularly after the winter we’ve just had, where the weather caused numerous cancellations and completely disrupted the system (although, hopefully, there won’t be weather conditions like that for a long time). Therefore, for those of you flying next week, so that you know what to wear to the airport, here is the forecast.

The weather is expected to be rather overcast for the duration of the week and, although there may be a few sunny intervals the overriding feeling is that there will be rainy showers throughout the week; best to bring a coat! In terms of the temperature, it is likely to be relatively mild with lows of around 10 degrees and highs reaching the heady heights of 15 degrees; practically shorts and tee-shirt weather compared to what we’ve had recently! There will also be wind, sometimes quite strong, which will make the temperatures drop somewhat so the best option, even if you’re flying to a hot country, is to be prepared for a cold wait; it is essential that you wear a rain coat and that you wrap up warm. There won’t be any problems with the weather cancelling flights – that’s one positive! As is the nature of British weather, this forecast applies to most weeks in the year, except the middle of winter and the middle of summer.

Stansted Airport Shops

I think that as long as we have flown once before, we tend to get a pretty good idea of what to expect from an airport. We would expect a smaller airport to have less facilities and to be a lot smaller and not as nice as a bigger one. However, when I went to Stansted airport I was really surprised at how good the facilities were. I always think of it as a lesser airport to some of the other London ones and so did not expect it to have very much there. Having travelled at Bristol, I expected it to be rather like that, but was surprised at the range of airport shops, for example.

I love the shops, because although I do not normally buy much, it gives you something to do while you are hanging around. I like looking at the books they have and have once managed to read a whole book while waiting for my plane! I also like flicking through the magazines. I also am interested in the kinds of things that the shops stock. You have to assume that they will only hold things which they know people who are travelling will buy and so I am really interested in the sorts of things people will buy. I often wonder why people might leave buying socks or sunglasses until they get to the airport. I can understand why they might need books, if their flight is delayed or papers and snacks, just to pass the time and sustain them.
